The Lagrangian Pendulum Spring model asks students to solve the Lagrangian for a spring-pendulum and then develop a computational model of it. The model framework is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive. Double-clicking the ejs_CM_Lagrangian_pendulum_spring.jar file will run the program if Java is installed. In order to run correctly, the student must add the correct physics to the EJS differential equation solver and parameter definitions. If EJS is installed on your computer, you can right-click within the simulation window and select Open Ejs Model from the pop-up menu. The CM Lagrangian Pendulum Spring model is one of several Easy Java Simulations (Ejs) models used to incorporate computational physics in Classical Mechanics. Ejs, a part of the Open Source Physics Project, is designed to make it easier to access, modify and generate computer models. Additional models can be found by searching ComPADRE for Ejs.
