This applet simulates an experiment to study Newton's Second Law. A mass sliding on a horizontal surface is connected by a string to a hanging mass. The value of the two masses and the coefficient of friction can be set by the user. The user can use a timer to gather data for the motion of the sliding mass as a function of time.
This applet is a part of a large collection of physics applets, available in a wide range of languages. Please note that this resource requires at least version 1.4.2 of Java.
