The Center for History of Physics works to archive and disseminate the historical record of modern physics and allied sciences. The online collection provides topical exhibits, visual archives, oral history interviews, a listing of books and other publications, and example syllabi for history of science courses. All of these resources are available for use in classes where appropriate. The Center is recognized world-wide for the quality its resources.
Remarkable
Author: Mary Salit I couldn't begin to make it through all of the material at this site, but the exhibits that I did view, on the history of the laser and the life of Marie Curie, were amazing. The laser history exhibit in particular had a ton of material that I had never heard or seen before despite having studied lasers for my PhD. The people after whom the equations I studied were named are now real people, with faces, voices, relationships, rivalries, anxieties, and insights revealed through photos, interviews, and even scanned notebook pages. The Marie Curie exhibit I looked at was targeted toward children (I understand they have an even more comprehensive one for adults) but it did not dumb down the material at all. Instead it included a lot of history of pre- World War II Poland, excerpts from Curie's writing in her own voice, photographs, and detailed context for all of the information. Excellent. A better experience than many science museums I've been too, with more information. I will be exploring further in the future.
