This video illustrates the concept of diffraction in a simple experiment using a flashlight and two credit cards. The viewer views the flashlight through the slit created by bringing the edges of the cards close together. Similar effects can be seen through eyelashes when squinting.
This video is part of AAPT Films, a collection of videos focused on teaching physics topics through simple experiments and demonstrations.
