This video demonstration illustrates Normal modes in a vibrating system. A system of two coupled carts sitting on an airbed are used to illustrate these modes. The normal modes are illustrated for both the driven and undriven case. The experiment is repeated for the case of three and five coupled carts. The video includes a short explanation of the demonstration.

This video is part of a video demonstration collection created by the Physics Department at MIT.
