This video demonstration illustrates the relative density of surface charge on a charged, asymmetric conductor. A tear-drop shaped conductor is charged using a Wimshurst Machine. Charge is then transferred from first the broad and then the narrow end of the conductor to an electroscope, showing the difference in charge density.
This video is part of a video demonstration collection created by the Physics Department at MIT.
